The summer’s events come to an end with the Thames Festival, which coincides with the Chuseok season. As usual, Korea will be strongly represented, this time in a prestigious location just in front of Tate Modern.
All Eyes on Korea at the Thames Festival

A full programme of events for all the family with a focus upon Korean art and cuisine. Enjoy comedy, contemporary arts and crafts, a great selection of food tasting and artist workshops all in front of Tate Modern. The festival also includes a traditional Korean wedding celebration!

Prior to each live performance, audiences will have the opportunity to see a selection of stunning large-scale projections by Lee Lee-nam, the video artist considered to be second only to Nam-June Paik.

Meekyoung Shin & Hong Sang-sik
Contemporary Korean artist Meekyoung Shin leads a workshop making colourful soap-bricks. These will be used to create a replica of Cheomsungdae, the 7th century astronomical observatory in Gyeongju, Korea, one of the oldest scientific installations on Earth. The second art workshop will feature contemporary Korean artist Hong Sang-sik whose work involves creating shapes and objects with dried noodles.
